Shopping for Men

Shopping for Men

One thing I really have a hard time with is shopping for my Dad. His birthday is coming up and he is a really hard person to buy for since everything you think he would like, he already has. Luckily, a friend told me about experience bday gifts for men. Wow, this site has helped me tremendously because I found so many ideas for my Dad. I had to bookmark the site as well so I have it at my disposal for any holiday in the future that involves buying for a guy. I think my dad is really going to love the monogrammed golf club links I got him since he is a big golfer.

Enough redneck talk

Enough redneck talk

One thing I definitely do not look forward to around this time is all of the hunting talk. Everywhere I go, the topic of rifles and spotting scopes have dominated the conversation. I realize I live in a small town in the South and that most of my family are obsessed with hunting but seriously, it is okay to take a break from talking about what you recently shot and cleaned to talk about something else. Now this kind of obsession has taken over my own household since my husband is a hunter as well. Do any other wives have this problem? How do I end this madness??

Christmas Cards

Christmas Cards

This weekend, my mom and I went shopping to look for some festive things for my place. My mom already bought us a wreath to go on our door but now we have been looking for a Christmas tree. I want Grayson to have a tree at our house that he can help us decorate. I really want to ensure he has the full Christmas experience at our house since this will be our first Christmas with him. I already purchased some Christmas Cards which I am putting his photo in to send out to our family. I am kind of excited to send out my cards with my married name on them! I know that sounds lame but its the small things I am excited about. I am just happy to spend the holidays with my family and have Grayson with us as well. That little kid is such a big part of our life and who knew that we would get to spend so much time with him!

Family Dinner Nights!

Family Dinner Nights!

One thing my mom and I agreed upon that was a must now that we have our own place is to have family dinner nights at my mom’s house one night a week. Some weeks we will have it there two nights a week since there are days where I just need to come to my mom’s house and have her home cooking. There is nothing like cheering you up than being surrounded by family. It is so funny how when I go over there I notice things that I never took the time to notice before like how my mom’s house smells like home and comfort. I don’t know how to explain the smell but as soon as I walk in I feel like I’m instantly being wrapped up in a bear hug! I also noticed how big my brother and sister are getting and how my brother seriously needs to learn how to get rid of blackheads. I know that sounds crazy but my brother is to the age where he has to worry about things like that because in two months he will be a teenager. How crazy is that? My baby brother is going to be a teen and that scares the crap out of me! Time flies by so fast.

NMEDA

NMEDA

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ever since my grandpa’s health has gone downhill, the family has been searching for ways to make his life easier in ways of transport. He has not been walking very well so he now uses a wheelchair and will for the rest of his life. One thing that is really difficult is getting him in and out of a vehicle so my family has been looking for a qualified NMEDA dealer in our area. NMEDA is an association that can help someone find driving equipment for disabled people. They don’t sell the products themselves but they can put you in touch with a dealer that meets their tough criteria and adheres to certain laws which means that not only will the van be safe, but will also meet the standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. My cousin found a handicapped van online but to me that isn’t a good idea. We want to actually see it in person to ensure it will meet the needs of my grandpa. Just because a van was suitable for another handicapped person does not mean it will fit his needs as well. The dealerships we found through NMEDA offer an evaluation of what you need exactly and then provide any tweaks needed after you receive the van and can also provide training if needed. Another plus about NMEDA is that they provide Quality Assurance Program dealers. The QAP is a nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It also is the only program of its kind.

We know that providing the care that my grandpa will need will be tough but NMEDA can help with that by providing us with the names of dealers in our area that can help. Thankfully for us, there is a dealer within forty miles that can provide us with everything that we need. If you have a disabled loved one, you should check out the NMEDA site and check to see if there is a dealer in your area! In fact, check out the site and comment with how close a dealer is to you in your area.
