A pro of getting older
As I have gotten on up in my years, I am very thankful to say that the days of needing the best acne treatment have finally started going away. I have always had great looking skin, but I always have a breakout or two pop up every now and then. For some reason, the breakout generally occurs during my monthly visits from my not-so-favorite Aunt Flo. God love her, I swear. I really cannot wait until those days when I am acne free all of the time but with PCOS, those days might never come! I guess I will just have to live with having a breakout every now and then and keep my emergency concealer on hand at all times! I guess it could be worse!

Swollen ankles are for the birds I tell ya!
Ever since I started back school, I have noticed that I have had swollen ankles. I have had a lot of knee trouble in the past few years so I thought that was the cause of it. Since I did not want to go to a doctor to get it checked out thanks to lack of insurance, I looked up water retemtion remedies online. The top suggestions are reduce your salt intake, make sure you are excercising, and reduce your stress amount. Since I am walking a lot at school I have that covered so I went ahead and reduced my sodium intake and have been trying to not get so stressed out. Sadly, none of these suggestions worked. When I went to the doctor the other day thanks to my evil sinusitis, I asked him about my swollen ankles as well. Hey, might as well kill two birds with one stone, eh? He told me that my blood pressure was back up and put me back on my medicine to reduce my blood pressure and the medicine also contained a diuretic which will reduce my water retention. Hopefully this all works because I am really tired of my ankles swelling up and hurting so much!

Make a commitment
I don’t know about all of you but I have heard numerous accounts of diet pills that actually work, but do they really? I have been doing a lot of research on diets and what not in my nutrition class and I’ve come to the conclusion that the only diet that truly works is no diet. I am not saying to eat to your heart’s contend on whatever you crave but to consider changing your lifestyle instead of just your eating habits for a temporary amount of time. To me, a diet is temporary and doesn’t last but changing your lifestyle is a lifelong commitment. I know that saying you’re going to change your lifestyle is a lot easier than actually changing it. Trust me, been there, done that, but it can be done!

A little goes a long way
Being a newlywed and a new step-momma, I am always on the lookout for great deals and sales. Also, since the recession, I’ve noticed a lot of other people have the same viewpoint as I do, why spend a lot for something when you can get it for less? A good resource for finding great deals and cheaper prices is the internet. There are tons of sites out there that can help you find a better deal for your buck on just about everything. I have found numerous sites for grocery coupons and even some sites on cheaper baby items. If you’re a mommy and diapering a baby I know you can feel my pain on outrageous diaper prices at times, lol. Another thing that my family has looked into saving on is our insurance whether it be health insurance, life insurance, or even our car insurance. Now don’t get me wrong, we are looking to save, not decrease our coverage. We have found it very easy to look at an insurance quote from many different companies at easy with the internet. It has helped us find a company that was just right for us with their coverage and what we had in our pockets. Needless to say, we are happy and covered! Let’s face it, a little savings go a long way!

College wear
Have you ever noticed how casual college students are? I start out at the beginning of the semester wearing nice, put together outfits only to end the semester wearing nothing but tee-shirts and running shorts. Seriously, I love my tee shirts and it is too big of a hassle to worry about dressing my best every day. I have always thought of myself to have a great sense of style, especially for my size, but here lately I don’t even care. I think I have too much to worry about to spend extra time obsessing over what I wear to school, ya know? Hopefully I am not alone on the casual front.

I need practice
I know, it’s been forever since I posted an e-mail and I deeply apologize for that. I have been so busy with school, my birthday, Grayson, and evidently a horrible two-week case of sinusitis. Lovely me, huh? I have been very busy in school preparing for the GACE test. In order to get my Associates’ and Bachelors’ Degrees, I have to take and successfully pass the GACE. The hard part is trying to find a GACE practice test site. I know there are plenty of people who are going to school to be teachers and the fact that you can’t find a practice test for the exit exam is very sad. I can find SAT sample practice tests and even a gmat prep test but nothing for the GACE. Hopefully my adviser can recommend some test prep sites in order for me to get prepared for the test. I am not spending $130 to register to take the test just to fail!

Life is busy
I have been so swamped these past few days it isn’t even funny. I’ve had school topped with family issues and then let’s top that all off with health problems as well. I haven’t been feeling the best in the world these past few days and I really think it has to do with going from the hellacious outside temps into a freezer locker also known as my school. I literally took a blanket to school last night because it was so cold. There is so many things I need to do, like work on my sites and even check my e-mail because I have no time. I can’t imagine how many spam e-mails I have mixed in with e-mails about compression stockings information and other things. Hopefully I will find the time to slow down, take a deep breath, and conquer some of the things on my to do list.
