Furniture Shopping

Furniture Shopping

Since we finally have our own place, furniture shopping has been something we have really enjoyed. It is so exciting to search for pieces of furniture for your own place. It is up to us to decide the style of our place and our home will now reflect our own personalities. Surprisingly enough, Jonathan and I have similar tastes which I never thought would happen. We both like a mix of modern furniture but not the new modern furniture that isn’t very functional. We prefer simple lines and prefer earth tones. We also have this thing where we don’t like big bulky furniture but we don’t like very small pieces of furniture either. I just can’t wait to fix up our apartment and finally see the finished product. Being a renter is so excited and I am so happy to have our own place.

Playstation Move

Playstation Move

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PlayStation MOVE. All opinions are 100% mine.

Now that we have our lease signed, we have busily been making lists of things we need for the apartment and then we made a list of things we wanted to buy. I know we want be able to buy everything we want but we wanted to choose the things that we wanted the most and then get whatever else on our list within time. For instance, I really want a flat screen television and after Christmas we plan on purchasing one. Also, the husband has been lusting over the new Playstation Move ever since he heard about it. I also want the Playstation Move and think it would be so fun.

I have always enjoyed video games to a certain level but my husband is a diehard fan. I wanted to Playstation 3, but the hubby got the Xbox 360 which he wishes he would have held out for the Move now. Motion gaming is something that is completely awesome. I like actually being able to control the motion of the games I play and Playstation has the best games in my opinion. I love how our Wii remotes track our movement but I think the Move will be even better. I also love how when the hubby and I play games together its fun and relieves stress while having couple time. We really enjoy playing racing games and other games such as the Grand Theft Auto series. Now playing any game from Rockstar Games, which rocks, has me so excited. If we had a Playstation 3, we could go ahead and upgrade to the Move for only $99! See, we should have got the PS3 instead of an Xbox 360!

The Golden Key

The Golden Key

We have our keys!! I am now in possession of the golden key, literally, to our apartment. I am so excited. We signed the lease and had the walk through of the apartment with the landlord. The landlord only need to replace the water line to our ice maker, replace the globe on the fan in the master room, and repair a place on the wall in the master room. I am so excited. We are able to paint which makes me even happier. We already have paint samples we have been looking at. This seems so surreal to the point I can’t explain it! All I can say is I am excited and this is seriously going to be bittersweet moving out.

NMEDA

NMEDA

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ever since my grandpa’s health has gone downhill, the family has been searching for ways to make his life easier in ways of transport. He has not been walking very well so he now uses a wheelchair and will for the rest of his life. One thing that is really difficult is getting him in and out of a vehicle so my family has been looking for a qualified NMEDA dealer in our area. NMEDA is an association that can help someone find driving equipment for disabled people. They don’t sell the products themselves but they can put you in touch with a dealer that meets their tough criteria and adheres to certain laws which means that not only will the van be safe, but will also meet the standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. My cousin found a handicapped van online but to me that isn’t a good idea. We want to actually see it in person to ensure it will meet the needs of my grandpa. Just because a van was suitable for another handicapped person does not mean it will fit his needs as well. The dealerships we found through NMEDA offer an evaluation of what you need exactly and then provide any tweaks needed after you receive the van and can also provide training if needed. Another plus about NMEDA is that they provide Quality Assurance Program dealers. The QAP is a nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It also is the only program of its kind.

We know that providing the care that my grandpa will need will be tough but NMEDA can help with that by providing us with the names of dealers in our area that can help. Thankfully for us, there is a dealer within forty miles that can provide us with everything that we need. If you have a disabled loved one, you should check out the NMEDA site and check to see if there is a dealer in your area! In fact, check out the site and comment with how close a dealer is to you in your area.

Changes of epic proportions

Changes of epic proportions

It’s official, the hubby and I officially have our own place. We are renting a two bedroom, two bathroom duplex apartment eight minutes from my house now and two minutes from my school. The location is perfect for our dogs and Grayson. We have a yard that Grayson will adore and it is not on a busy road so we do not have to worry about Grayson or the dogs darting out in traffic. The rent we are going to pay at this apartment is the same at another apartment we looked at but this one has a whole lot more room and has two bathrooms instead of one. Also, we have a small deck outside and a carport which the other apartment didn’t have. I also think the rooms are good sizes as well which is important considering we have Grayson every weekend and a week of the month. I am so excited and can’t wait to get our keys. We go sign the lease later today!
